Designing for Diverse Audiences

The Career Center served a broad student audience, each with different needs, priorities, and levels of familiarity with career resources. I designed communications that made information approachable while helping students quickly understand what was relevant to them.

Start With the Message

Before designing, I considered what students needed to know and what action we wanted them to take. That helped determine what information deserved emphasis.

Adapt to the Context

A social post, poster, email graphic, and digital display all communicate differently. I adapted the visual approach to fit each format while maintaining consistency.

Make It Memorable

With so many campus messages competing for attention, I used strong hierarchy, imagery, and visual concepts to make career resources more noticeable and engaging.

Resume and Cover Letter Guide

The Career Center’s Resume and Cover Letter Guide is by far the most utilized resource by students who visit the center. This project was created in Adobe InDesign and was a collaboration between many different departments.

What I Learned

Build Consistency

Creating marketing materials across social media, print, digital displays, and other formats taught me how to carry a visual identity across different applications while keeping each piece cohesive.

Design for the Format

A design that works on Instagram doesn't necessarily work on a poster or digital screen. I learned to rethink hierarchy, composition, and scale for each format while preserving the core visual idea.

Communicating Visually

Career Center marketing often started with information about an event, resource, or opportunity. I learned how to distill that information into clear, engaging visuals that communicated the most important message quickly.

Fall 2024 Career Fair

UConn’s fall career fair is a 2 day event broken into the All University Fair and the STEM Fair. This required 3 different, but cohesive graphics to brand the fairs. The graphics were created for a variety of marketing platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, websites, digital boards, and posters around campus.
